The Lifestyle Screen Plus is different. It adds a detailed thyroid profile including thyroid antibodies, an inflammation marker and either PSA for men or CA-125 for women, alongside its broader general-health profile. However, it should not be described simply as the Lifestyle Screen with extra tests because the exact biomarker composition differs between Nationwide’s NP3 and Standard Screen Plus profiles.
🩸 Full Blood Count – your blood cells
Includes:
Haemoglobin (oxygen-carrying protein) Red Blood Cell Count (red blood cells) HCT / Haematocrit (proportion of blood made up of red cells) MCV (average red blood cell size) MCH (haemoglobin within each red blood cell) MCHC (haemoglobin concentration within red cells) RDW (variation in red blood cell size) Platelets & MPV (blood-clotting cells and their average size) White Blood Cell Count (immune cells) Neutrophils, Lymphocytes, Monocytes, Eosinophils & Basophils (different types of immune cells)
This gives us a useful overview of your blood and can identify patterns that may warrant further investigation, including certain patterns associated with anaemia, infection or inflammation.
🍬 HbA1c – your longer-term blood sugar
HbA1c (average blood sugar levels) gives an indication of your average glucose over approximately the previous 2–3 months.
It’s particularly useful if you have a family history of diabetes, are overweight, have experienced symptoms such as increased thirst or urination, or simply want to understand your metabolic health.
❤️ Cholesterol & heart health
Includes:
Total Cholesterol Triglycerides (blood fats) HDL Cholesterol (“good” cholesterol) LDL Cholesterol (“bad” cholesterol) Total Cholesterol/HDL Ratio HDL % of Total Cholesterol
These results can contribute to a broader assessment of your cardiovascular and metabolic health.
🧪 Liver health
Includes:
Alkaline Phosphatase / ALP (liver and bone-associated enzyme) Bilirubin (breakdown product processed by the liver) ALT (liver enzyme) AST (liver/muscle enzyme) Gamma GT / GGT (liver and bile-duct enzyme)
Changes in these markers can provide useful information about your liver and help identify when further assessment may be appropriate.
💧 Kidney function & essential minerals
Includes:
Urea (waste product) Creatinine (kidney filtration marker) Sodium (electrolyte) Potassium (electrolyte) Calcium (important for bones, nerves and muscles) Phosphate (mineral involved in bone and cellular health)
These provide information about areas including kidney function and electrolyte balance.
CRP is a protein that can rise in response to inflammation. It isn’t a diagnosis by itself, but an abnormal result can provide another piece of information when looking at your overall health.
⚙️ Iron stores
Ferritin (stored iron)
Ferritin helps assess your body’s iron stores. This can be particularly relevant if you’re experiencing tiredness, weakness or low energy, although low energy can have many different causes.
☀️ Vitamin D
Vitamin D 25(OH) (vitamin D level)
Vitamin D is important for normal bones, muscles and immune function. The test measures your circulating vitamin D level.
Plus: an in-depth thyroid check
One of the biggest additions to our Lifestyle Screen Plus is a more comprehensive look at your thyroid.
Your thyroid influences many processes within the body. Thyroid problems can sometimes be associated with symptoms such as persistent tiredness, feeling unusually cold or hot, changes in weight, changes in heart rate or changes in hair and skin.
Symptoms alone can’t tell you whether you have a thyroid condition, which is where blood testing can be useful.
