NHS Emergency Contraception Service – Vitality Pharmacy
A New, Free NHS Service at Vitality Pharmacy
Vitality Pharmacy now provides a commissioned NHS Emergency Contraception Service, free of charge. Previously, these treatments were often purchased privately for between £20-£35. This new NHS service ensures you can access vital care quickly and confidentially, at no cost.
About Emergency Contraception
Emergency contraception (often called the ‘morning after pill’) can prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex or if your regular contraception has failed, for example, if a condom splits or you forget to take your pill.
Our NHS service offers a private consultation and the emergency pill, free of charge, to eligible women.
Book Your Free, Confidential Consultation
Visit Vitality Pharmacy for a free, private consultation with our trained pharmacist. We are here to provide you with support and the emergency contraception you need, discreetly and without judgement.
Am I Eligible for the Free Service?
This free NHS service is available to women, including those under 16. If you are under 16, our pharmacist will provide a confidential consultation and can supply the treatment, following NHS guidelines designed to safeguard your wellbeing.
We offer two main types of emergency contraception:
Ulipristal acetate (e.g. ellaOne®) – Effective for up to 5 days (120 hours) after unprotected sex.
Levonorgestrel (e.g. Levonelle®) – Effective for up to 3 days (72 hours) after unprotected sex.
Our pharmacist will advise on the most suitable option for you during your consultation.
If for any reason you are not eligible for the free NHS service, we can still provide emergency contraception through a private, paid-for service to ensure you get the help you need.
